Yarrow Achilea millefolium Sweet, Soothing & Relaxing
There are many chemotypes of yarrow available to the aromatherapy market. The most popular oil, is of the chamazulene chemotype. The aroma is sweet, herbaceous with woody undertones. The oil appears dark blue in colour, hence it looks very similar to German chamomile. The Blue colour is due to the high azulene component. The manufacturer uses the flowering heads and thus produces the rich essential oil by steam distillation.

Yarrow is the same botanical family as Chamomile (Asteraceae), and consequently possesses many of the same therapeutic properties as German Chamomile.
