Tagetes was originally grown in Africa before spreading to America, Europe, and Australia and is commonly found in UK garden centres,
Therapeutically the properties of Tagetes are completely different to those of the true marigold (Calendula officinalis), and therefore not be confused.
Distilled from the leaves, stem stalk and flowers, this essential oil has a distinct sweet, herbaceous fragrance with fruity overtones.
Tagetes has a long history of use in Ayurvedic medicine for treating respiratory problems.
Components The main components of this oil are limonene, ocimene, tagetone, and valeric acid thus this oil very powerful and therefore to be used in low dilutions.
Properties : antibiotic, antimicrobial, anti-parasitic, antiseptic, anti-spasmodic, disinfectant, insecticide, and sedative substance.
